Privacy Policy

This site is run by the Taino Leadership Summit, an independent research project. We collect as little as we can, we never sell anything we collect, and this page says exactly what happens to what you give us.

What we collect, and when

The contact form

When you write to us through the Contact page, we receive your name, your email address, and your message. Our hosting provider stores the submission and emails it to us. We use it only to reply to you.

The mailing list

If you join the list, using the signup band at the bottom of each page, we keep your email address and first name in Kit, the service that sends our email. You are added straight away; there is no confirmation email to click. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you immediately. We send occasionally: new sources, papers, and updates. Nothing else.

Donations

Donations go through PayPal. We never see your card or bank details; PayPal handles the payment and shows us your name, email address, and the amount, which we use for our records and to thank you. PayPal's own privacy statement (opens in a new tab) covers what they do with your information.

Visiting the site

Like every website, ours is served by computers that keep short-lived logs of requests, including your IP address and the pages you asked for. Our hosting provider keeps these for a limited time for security and troubleshooting. We use Google Analytics to see which pages are visited, where visitors come from, and which links are clicked. It sets cookies and sends this usage data to Google; Google's own privacy policy covers what it does with it.

The site's typefaces are loaded from a third-party font service, which means your browser requests them from that service and it sees the request. If you would rather it didn't, a browser extension that blocks third-party fonts will stop it and the site will still work.

What we do with it

  • Reply to your message.
  • Send the emails you signed up for, and stop when you unsubscribe.
  • Record and acknowledge donations.
  • Keep the site running and secure.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information, and we do not share it with anyone except the services named above, which need it to do the job described.

Links to other sites

The Archive links to hundreds of outside sources: libraries, publishers, archives, and repositories. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from the list using the link in any email, or write to us.
  • Ask us to delete anything we hold about you, and we will.

Changes

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
